The Guide to the Tough World of CSGO Matchmaking
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is one of the most popular games on Steam. This is because of the progress that you can make in its matchmaking. There are many ranks that you can reach depending on your performance level in the games that you play.
There are many aspects of CSGO that should be familiar to the gamers from around the world. Like other multiplayer games, it also has a ranked competitive system that has certain levels that you can reach if you continue to win games. Let us talk about some of these ranks that you can reach.
CSGO ranks
There are three major parts of the CSGO rankings system and that is divided into four sub-genres which are - Silver, Gold, Master Guardian, and Elite. Of course, it is not as simple as that because each sub-genre has many ranks within it. These ranks will define your play, even if you have the most free CSGO skins possible, you have to play well in ranked.
Silver
Silver is the lowest class of the CSGO rankings. This is typically reserved for the players who are new to the game or some of the players who are unlucky enough to have losing streaks that take them down a notch.
The Silver group ranges from Silver 1 which is the lowest possible rank to Silver Elite Master which is the highest rank in this tier of CSGO. It is hard to be a player from this tier because many people will judge you for being on the lower-end of the skill spectrum. However, if you enter the Silver tier, make sure that you use it as motivation to learn and play better in your ranked games.
Gold
In the Gold tier, this is where you see the average to above average players. Gold Nova I is the lowest possible level in this tier but it is still an average level of play when it comes to CSGO players. This is the level where you can see the most populated skill level.
The highest level in this tier is Gold Nova Master which is above average in terms of skill level. If you are at this level, you are advanced compared to the average player. You can become a top player if you advance from this rank.
Master Guardian
From the Master Guardian I rank to Distinguished Master Guardian, you will see good players. If you are in this tier, you are already a great talent in CSGO. Make sure that you do not waste the hard work that you made here because you can reach the next level if you strive harder and communicate better with your teammates in matchmaking.
Elite
From the Legendary Eagle rank to the Global Elite, you are among the best players in the world. If you are here, make sure you remember that you can still exceed your ability despite your high placing in the rankings. Fundamentals should never be forgotten because that is the key to winning despite all the flashy plays that elite players tend to do.
Make sure that you have your plays down like the smoke grenade placements so that you can’t get lost in the shuffle of elite players. If you reach Global, you can even make a case for yourself to go pro if you are truly dedicated. It requires time and motivation to do it.
Tips for matchmaking
When you are playing this game, you have to take a lot of factors into account. You need to practice your aim and movement on your own. Warming up is important when it comes to matchmaking because you need momentum when you are heading into ranked games. You can even test out some of your favourite free CSGO skins in these training sessions.
You need to make sure that you are in your best form before queueing for a ranked game because it will determine how you perform in the games. Another tip that can help you is to be familiar with the maps that you are going to play in the ranked games.
Know your maps
For example, Mirage is a map that has typically boggled players’ minds because of how important smokes are. If you can focus on having that kind of aspect in your game, you will have a better time playing in your ranked games. Do this for the maps that are in the competitive pool and having a deeper map rotation will only help you.
In the map pool, Mirage, Inferno, and Dust II are the most important that you have to remember. These classic maps in CS, that trace back to 1.6 days, remain to be the most played today. If you know the right spots to camp and the right smokes, you will most likely help your team to win.
Improve your gameplay habits
There are many aspects of gameplay that people usually overlook. Aim is of course needed but people usually rely on their reflexes in that part of the game. Pre-aiming is one way to solve that problem, this is where a player is placing his cursor at head level behind a wall and then swinging while aiming at where you think the enemy is. It is hard to grasp early on but it will come naturally when you get the hang of it.
You also need to diversify your weapon choices as using the AK-47 and the M4A4/M4A1-S will get stale for a while. There will also be days where you aim will fall off which means that you need to use an AWP or any other weapon.
Lastly, study the in-game economy as most players do not look at the time when they need to go on eco rounds or even times where buying a new gun is not needed. Essentially, you need to have better game sense which you can sharpen as you play.
These are just some of the tips that you can get here but you can learn even more lessons by watching the pros and playing the game yourself.
