A comprehensive guide to Casino Hold'Em
Casino Hold’em is a gambling game that is mostly associated with other popular forms of poker like Texas Hold’Em. Here is a guide that can help you learn because there are still some misconceptions about its ins and outs.
Poker is one of the most challenging games in the world because you have to play against other players who have different playstyles. You have to also try and trick them using your deception skills since you have to protect the card hands that you’re holding. While that is people’s majority opinion on poker, Casino Hold’Em is a different variation of the classic Texas Hold’Em poker game that most people recognize.
It is still played with a standard 52-card deck. At the start, two cards are dealt face down to each player and the dealer. Three community cards are also dealt face down and during various stages of the game, they are turned over. The game’s objective is for the player to achieve a higher ranking five-card hand compared to the dealer using a combo of the two ‘Hole’ cards and the three community cards.
The game is meant to be played as a variant of the class Texas Hold’Em but it has become so popular to the point that people are interested in playing this game exclusively. It has worked out for some people because different land-based and online casinos provide this game by themselves.
Just like the popularity of free CSGO skins, Casino Hold’Em has become stronger recently. It was quick to earn its place in all casino formats which is big. It will continue to grow as time goes on so let’s dive into the history of Casino Hold’Em.
Casino Hold’Em’s history
Back in the late 1990s, Stephen Au-Yeung devised the game as a tool to assist his partner in training for Texas Hold’Em. He didn’t know that Casino Hold’Em would grow into such a massive game. The game was initially developed as a training tool and became a House game and it was launched to the public in 2000. It first appeared in Egypt, Russia and South Africa.
It was then shown at the World Gaming Congress Exp in Las Vegas in 2001 and the International Casino Exhibition in 2002 in London. This was important because it was shown to the big dogs of the casino scene and it started to grow into every platform available.
Casino Hold’Em’s winning combos
When you play this game, you have to know all of the combos that you can use to win the game. These are ranked from lowest to highest which will be integral to players’ success. Let’s take a look at these combos that can be made to succeed.
High card
This is when none of the players has one of the top combos. The winner is determined by the highest card. If you look at the cards that are on hand, the highest value will have to be an Ace card.
One pair
Most people see this as the least-valued hand since you only have one pair on hand. Even if it has a low value, you can expect that this can get you out of a dud hand. It will be your last-ditch effort because you can still win this if the house also has a dud hand.
Two pairs
As the name suggests, this hand is made up of cards that have two pairs of different cards of the same value. An example of this is when you have a hand that contains two 2s but have different suits.
Three of a kind
Just like Two pairs, this hand is made of cards that are of the same value. The other two do not need to have the same suit as long as they have the same value. This is rare but it does have solid value when you get it.
Straight
This is recognized as the sixth-best hand in Casino Hold’Em because it is made up of five sequential card values. That means that there are five cards whose values are all consecutive. If you have a five-card hand of 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, you will have a straight. You can get this hand regardless of the suit because it mostly relies on the numerical value.
Full house
The full house combo is made up of three cards of the same value and two of different but matching values. If you get a combo like three cards with values of five sequential cards and two Jacks, you have a Full House. It should not be a surprise that it’s the fourth-best hand in the game since it’s pretty rare. You won’t get this every game but when you do, you should feel lucky.
Four of a kind
Just like the three of a kind hand that we talked about, four of a kind is made up of four cards that have the same value. The fifth one does not need to be anything noteworthy. It’s mostly there as a placeholder because only four cards are needed for this hand.
Straight Flush
Across games of poker, this is seen as the second-best hand. This is a hand made up of five cards that are sequential and like the straight hand but this one has to be of the same suit. For example, you have cards ranging from 7 to Jack and all of them are all spades. That is called a Straight Flush and it could be the number one hand in the game except there is one combo better.
Royal Flush
The Royal Flush is an extremely rare hand that you can get in all kinds of poker. This is a hand composed of the highest-value cards of the same suit. This is composed of 10, Jack, Queen, King and the Ace. This is pretty hard to get because players need to have similarities with suits and the values too.
Types of Casino Hold’Em bets
Casino Hold’Em is a diverse game with numerous bets that you can make in-game. There are three types of bets in this game that you can win under certain conditions.
Ante Bet
Firstly, you can win the ante beat if your hand beats the dealer’s hands. You will receive one of the following payouts with each available hand. Here are the ante payouts for each available hand.
- Royal Flush - 100 to 1
- Straight Flush - 20 to 1
- Four of a kind 10 to 1
- Full House - 3 to 1
- Flush - 2 to 1
- Straight or lower - 1 to 1
Most people might be wondering why these values matter but it does work out in the end. If you’re playing in online casinos, you can expect these numbers to go up as the hand’s value goes in the same direction.
Raise Bet
With the Raise Bet, you can win the most value possible but having a good hand. However, the dealer has to have a decent hand too. In Poker terms, the dealer needs to ‘qualify’. When talking about a game of Casino Hold’Em, the dealer will only qualify for a good hand if he has a Pair of Fours or better.
If your hand beats the dealer but they don’t qualify, the raise bet is a push which means you get your wager back but you don’t win. When you win the raise bet by beating a qualified dealer, the payout will be 1 to 1. There are three outcomes that you should know.
| OUTCOME | Dealer qualifies | Dealer doesn’t qualify |
| Your hand beats the dealer’s hand | You win both the ante and raise bets | You win the ante bet while the raise bet is a push |
| Your hand doesn’t beat the dealer’s hand | You lose both the ante and raise bets | You win the ante bet but lose the raise bet |
| Both your and the dealer’s hands are equal | Both the ante bet and raise bets are a push | Both the ante bet and raise bets are a push |
AA (Bonus) Bet
The last available one is the AA (Bonus) Bet. It is not related to your hand beating the dealer’s hand or qualifying. No matter what are the remaining community cards, you can only win the AA Bet if your hand is a pair of Aces or better. The payout for this bet is pretty solid too.
- Royal Flush 100 to 1
- Straight Flush - 50 to 1
- Four of a kind - 40 to 1
- Full house - 30 to 1
- Flush - 20 to 1
- Pair of Aces to Straight - 7 to 1
